‘Time to sell up’ – Fans take on co-owner after weekend loss

West Ham’s season has not been the success many Hammers here in the Transfer Tavern were hoping for before a ball was kicked.

Having challenged for a top-four finish in 2015/16, quite a few Irons supporters believed that a sustained run in the Europa League and another push for a spot in the top quartet was possible, but elimination from continental competition at the qualification stage, relegation worries by the winter period, a less than successful transition to the London Stadium and Dimitri Payet’s exit are a handful of happenings to irk the east Londoners’ fanbase.

Saturday’s loss to Leicester was the club’s third league defeat on the spin and fifth match without a victory, which has cause yet more disappointment.

Responding to a tweet from a fan who watched the game, co-owner David Gold said he was “hoping” his side would equalise at 3-2…

Nothing to see here, right? Well, plenty of Hammers were very annoyed with Gold for a lack of ambition, and some of the responses to his words were pretty strong…
