Though the prospect of playing Tottenham Hotspur may worry a few groups of supporters here in the Transfer Tavern, the West Ham lot really aren’t too concerned.
While any meeting with Spurs would be considered one of the biggest games in their season, the Hammers boast a good record against their capital counterparts in recent seasons. Having helped derail their title challenges in each of the last two seasons, the Irons are confident of a victory tomorrow.
So, the good mood amongst them has only been added to following reports emanating out of Italy. Indeed, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the east London outfit had scouts in attendance as Bologna took on Inter Milan in a 1-1 draw.
Simone Verdi and Adam Masina are understood to have been the subjects of their mission as Slaven Bilic looks to add to his squad, either in January or next summer.
Verdi is a talented forward and could go some way into adding some firepower to the Irons’ frontline, while Masina would be an improvement at left-back, adding cover and competition for Aaron Cresswell.
Just who is after the players then? Doubts have been cast about Bilic’s long-term future at the club and the idea of looking at players for (potentially) next summer would suggest the Croatian is not in charge of that aspect.
