Kostas Fortounis is a name that continues to be linked with West Ham United in recent weeks.
The Olympiakos playmaker has had an incredible season with the Athens giants and his stats certainly go a long way into showing why the Hammers are allegedly keen in bringing him to the London Stadium.
The Greece international provided Olympiakos with 17 goals and 16 assists in his 43 matches across all competitions (Transfermarkt); those are the kind of returns that Manuel Pellegrini’s side could make do with if they are to challenge for a place in European football.
And, it seems one report has told them the price that they will need to pay if they want to bring Fortounis to the Premier League this summer.
According to Greek media publication SDNA, West Ham will have to pay Olympiakos £13million in order to sign the 26-year-old. We’re sure you don’t need us to tell you this, but just in case you did – that is a steal and would be a bargain in anyone’s book!
If the report is true, and it can be considered believable as the playmaker has just one year left on his present contract, then it would surely be an opportunity too good for Pellegrini and the Irons to turn down.
That sum of money is hardly breaking the bank, despite West Ham’s alleged limited transfer budget this summer (Football.London), whilst Fortounis is the type of player that has been missing from the side.
Sport24 claimed last week that the Hammers had a bid of £8.8m turned down, however, £13m does not seem to be an unreasonable price for a player as talented as he is.
However, as SDNA pointed out, Norwich City are also thought to be interested in acquiring the Olympiakos playmaker this summer, so West Ham may have to act quickly if they want the 26-year-old playing his football at the London Stadium next season.
West Ham fans, do you think Fortounis would be a steal for £13m? Is he too good for the club to miss out on this summer? Let us know your thoughts below!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
