West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are beginning to grow tired of the saga surrounding Slaven Bilic’s desperate pursuit of a striker, and now news has made it to the ear of our Landlord that they may finally be set to get one.
According to reports on Esporte, Argentinian striker, Jonathan Calleri, has agreed a deal with West Ham to complete a move from South America this summer.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Sao Paulo from Uraguayan side Deportivo Maldonado, and has scored 12 goals in 17 appearances for the Brazilian outfit.
Should a move materialise, the striker will be following in the footsteps of former teammate, Carlos Tevez, who spent time in Brazil before making the move to The Hammers.
Esporte are reporting that Calleri had offers on the table from both Inter Milan and Sevilla but opted in the end for his preferred move to the Premier League.
Hammers fans, what do you make of this news? How much do you know about Calleri? Would you be glad to see this desperate chase for a striker come to an end? Let us know below…
