West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be pleased to see that their side has extended the points gap to seven from the relegation zone and will be looking ahead to next season.

David Moyes will already have one eye on his summer plans for recruitment and has identified one talent who would be deemed more for the future rather than making an immediate impact for the Hammers.

According to reports by Gloucestershire Live, the Irons are chasing Derby County’s attacking midfielder Luke Thomas. The 19-year-old has been impressive for the Rams’ Under-23 side this season and was given a taste of Championship football in the past few fixtures.

He has recently signed a three-year deal to remain at Pride Park after impressing boss Gary Rowett during his loan spells away from the club, however, a move from West Ham could prove to be difficult to turn down.

Over the years, the Hammers have been able to produce a number of their players from a young age and should they be able to recruit Thomas, they would be confident he can become a key player in the future.

Landlord’s Verdict

The West Ham fans in the Tavern will be encouraged by the performances Thomas has been producing, although locals will be wanting the club to find someone who can make an immediate impact rather than in the future.
