West Ham and Southampton battle for Italian international ahead of Euro 2016

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are celebrating the fact that they have European football next season. However the topic quickly changes to who will join the club in their continental journey.

According to Italian TV station Qui Studio A Voi Stadio (via Inside Futbol) Juventus striker Simone Zaza is of interest to the upwardly mobile Hammers, along with fellow Europa League entrees Southampton.

The Azzzurri international was an unused substitute for Juventus’ Coppa Italia’s win against AC Milan, a sewing motif of his time with the Old Lady since joining from Sassuolo.

It is thought the 24-year old was a target for Premier League sides over the course of the January transfer window, with the likes of Norwich reportedly eyeing an audacious move.

However, he ultimately remained in Turin and failed to make an impact, despite their glorious Serie A campaign.

Moving to either East London or the South Coast would certainly give the striker a better chance of cracking the first team, with both sides requiring firepower over the course of the next few months in order to improve on remarkable campaigns.

West Ham fans… Would you have Simone Zaza at your club? If not who should you bring in?
