West Ham: Club are struggling to sell Javier Hernandez - West Ham

Javier Hernandez’s potential exit from West Ham United isn’t looking as if it’ll be a straightforward one.

The Mexican international joined the club in 2017 from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported fee of £16 million per BBC Sport, yet despite Hernandez’s impressive form in Germany where the striker hit 39 goals in 76 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga club, Hernandez has struggled in east London.

In 61 games for the Hammers, the former Manchester United man has only managed 16 goals in all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, which is perhaps why rumours suggesting the club will spend big on a striker have emerged. Obviously, Celta Vigo attacker Maxi Gomez is being touted by the Evening Standard with a move to the London Stadium, but Hernandez has seemingly made things complicated.

According to Football Fan Cast, the club are finding it difficult to move on the 31-year-old striker this summer due to his hefty £140,000-per-week contract, which in turn has slowed down the Hammers’ transfer business this window as a whole.

Having been signed for £16 million, the club are reportedly willing to accept a bid of £10 million for the striker as per the Football Fan Cast report, but with a goal return as poor as Hernandez’s, it’s understandable why the club are so eager to ship the Mexican off this summer.
