ExWHUEmployee has revealed that West Ham are not close to making any signings at this stage.
However, the West Ham insider has distinguished that enquiries have been made by the Hammers, which could potentially turn into firm offers before the window’s culmination.
The Hammers have already brought in record signing Sebastien Haller, as well as Pablo Fornals, Roberto and David Martin this summer.
Claret & Hugh have previously reported that Manuel Pellegrini is happy with his squad following the aforementioned signings, preferring quality over quantity.
This indicates that he would only sign somebody who he feels will be able to greatly improve the squad, rather than making transfers for the sake of it.
However, there will surely be areas he wants to get cover for – specifically in the striker position, as Javier Hernandez is the only out-and-out striker to cover for Haller until Xande Silva recovers from an obstruction in his bowel.
There have also been fans calling for further cover at centre-back, left-back and holding-midfield, so they will be hoping the possibility of firm offers being made comes to fruition.
It would be disappointing if there were no more signings to be made by the Hammers this summer.
Haller and Fornals have certainly brought extra quality to the side, though it will be a worry that the squad could be caught short in the case of injuries.
In addition, it would be concerning to see the club go the whole summer without signing a single defender, considering West Ham conceded 55 goals last season.
