West Ham United: Lots of fans beg academy graduate to return and solve ‘keeper crisis

West Ham have a goalkeeper crisis on their hands after news that Lukasz Fabianski could be out injured until January. Since second-choice Roberto took the reins on September 28, he’s conceded 13 goals in six games and hasn’t been between the sticks for a win yet. The club are floundering in 16th, just five points off the relegation zone, and fans are getting restless.

Manuel Pellegrini has urged fans to have faith in Roberto, however, West Ham radio show  The West Ham Way on Phoenix FM reported the club are interested in bringing in Stoke’s Jack Butland on loan to see out the crisis before signing him permanently in summer. So it doesn’t seem like the club has much faith in their second choice, either.

When West Ham’s official Twitter account posted a happy birthday message to Nathan Trott, an academy graduate goalkeeper who’s currently on loan at Wimbledon, fans were quick to beg him to return and sort the mess out at his parent club. He’s played 13 games for AFC Wimbledon this season, managing just two clean sheets, but it seems many fans believe he’s a much better option than their current ‘keeper.
