West Ham United endured yet another disappointing evening on Monday night as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal at the London Stadium.
The Hammers had taken a 1-0 lead into half-time thanks to an Angelo Ogbonna header, but three quick second-half goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed three points for the Gunners.
Should West Ham sign Asmir Begovic?
Plenty of West Ham players were below par, particularly in the second half, but one who came in for specific criticism on social media was Robert Snodgrass.
It was not a great evening for the Scotsman, who didn’t perform anywhere near his best.
Indeed, he lost possession on 13 occasions in the match, lost both of his ground duels and only one of his six attempted crosses were accurate (SofaScore).
Ultimately, the former Hull City man was brought off after 77 minutes following a disappointing display and replaced by youngster Nathan Holland (@WestHam).
Several West Ham fans were not happy with the 32-year-old’s performance and took to Twitter to criticise him. Here is what some had to say, with one supporter dubbing him as “another Stewart Downing”.
How Snodgrass lasted almost 80 minutes I’ll never know, the guys got no quality whatsoever but lives off of passion and our fans lap it up

Another Stewart downing from back in the day.. no pace and get 1 decent cross in about 20.. 💩

Just watching/listening to you guys now. Noble and Snodgrass were awful. Antonio looked Sunday League today – rarely held the ball up. Haller would have been the better choice. What was Arthur doing for Pepe’s goal? Just allowed him to shoot inside the box?!

Antonio and Ogbonna are our best players pal, our CM is one of our biggest issues and Snodgrass just isnt good enough

Fredericks, Snodgrass, Fornals just not good enough

I don’t think having 30% possession is per se “looking comfortable”.
We were bound to concede a goal either way due to Snodgrass’s very poor decision making and the way he was constantly giving the ball away for us to be countered.

Snodgrass is so poor
