West Ham: Fans criticise club after missing out on Maxi Gomez

West Ham have missed out on Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez after the youngster opted for a move to Valencia.
More so the clause but the player preferred a move elsewhere too https://t.co/Obe8GRlQcb

The Hammers have been continuously linked with the striker all summer with Sky Sports News recently reporting that the east London side offered to pay the 22-year-old’s release clause of £45 million but were unable to agree with Celta Vigo on a payment structure.
Of course, missing out on Gomez after chasing the South American since January (per Sky Sports News) has not gone down well with West Ham supporters, who were unimpressed with the club’s attitude with signing players this summer.
Fans took to social media to vent their frustrations at the club as supporters on Twitter made their opinions on the collapsed deal known.
Here is how some West Ham fans reacted to the news…
not over fussed if he didn’t want to join. More fish in the sea and we have a budget. What annoys me is we had a chance to show the world we can compete with the elite. sounds like board bottled it perhaps. That lack of ambition worries me. Hope I’m wrong! Time will tell! Coyi

Did Pellegrini back us pulling out, or is he one his way to the Sullivan residents with a baseball bat?

No Rondon and No Gomez. Ridiculous.

Can’t help but feel this outcome should have been obvious days ago and we should have moved to other targets long before now. The fact that the structure of the payment is the reason it’s broken down smacks of Sullivan just wanting to be abele to say “we tried”

No point in chasing people who don’t want to play for us , find someone who does
