Many West Ham fans feel like Jack Wilshere’s time at the club has been poor, with one mentioning he has been a ‘waste of space‘ whilst in East London.
The English international arrived at the Irons on a free transfer from Arsenal in 2018 but has suffered many injuries at the London Stadium, per Transfermarkt, which has seen the central midfielder being out of the squad for a whopping 350 days.
In January West Ham brought in Tomas Soucek, who is also a centre midfielder, on loan and the man from Slavia Prague has already played 231 minutes this season compared to Jack’s 177, per Whoscored.
Soucek also looks to be a better all-round player than Wilshere at this moment in time, per Whoscored. Defensively, he has more tackles and interceptions per game this season, whilst offensively he has more shots and key passes per game.
The Irons have the option to buy the Czech Republic player for £13.5 million, via The Guardian. Only time will tell if David Moyes will activate this, but it is a great option to have with Wilshere not making an appearance for the first team since the 19th October 2019, per Transfermarkt and if they do sign him long-term, it could be the end of the road for the ex-Arsenal man at the London Stadium.
Here is what fans said about the player:
Waste of space when unfit, little more than that when when fit.

Absurdly bad deal from the start, huge wages, 28 now & although I think we could still cash in on his name, I’d happily just terminate his contract & get his wages off the books! pic.twitter.com/h0xrFcpQe5

The board took a gamble on his fitness, but it hasn’t worked out.
No doubting his ability when fit but too often injured.
Time to make him an offer to cancel his contract and cut our losses.
