West Ham: Fans praise Michail Antonio’s performance in defeat to Tottenham

Plenty of West Ham fans were quite happy with the performance of Michail Antonio today despite the Hammers falling to their third Premier League defeat in a row and fifth in six games.
The winger came on for Felipe Anderson at half-time in the 2-3 defeat to Tottenham at London Stadium and, after his side had gone three goals behind, he got the Hammers off the mark in the final 20 minutes, as noted by @WestHam on Twitter.

Anderson’s ineffective first half display saw him fail to register a shot or a successful dribble, whereas Antonio’s goal was one of two shots on target and three in total for the 29-year-old, having also clocked three successful dribbles and drawing three fouls. [via WhoScored]
He came on to make his first appearance since August, having been ruled out for the last three months with a hamstring injury (as per whufc.com), and made an immediate impact upon his return to action.
These West Ham fans on Twitter lauded Antonio’s display on another bad day for their team:
We’ve missed him

Amazing what happens when you attack, shame we left it until the 72nd minute though. Antonio’s one of the only ones that actually cares

@Michailantonio 👏👏 can you explain to the other forwards what’s needed

Outplaying his £45million teammate three times over.

One of the few that seems to really care 😔

Yes but unlike a few seasons where we have been able to rely on one or two key players, we dont have that luxury anymore. Players need to pull their fingers out like Antonio has. They could learn a bit about effort, drive and commitment from him.

Should have played him from the start. The only player who looks up for it
