A lot of West Ham fans are reminiscing over how good former striker Dean Ashton was after the club tweeted out a throwback as they came from behind to beat Blackburn.
In the 2-1 victory, Ashton scored the equaliser as he produced a great turn and then managed to dink it over the goalkeeper. Ashton played only 56 times for West Ham, and scored 19 times, via Transfermarkt, but the fans below are wondering what could have been if his career was not plagued by injuries.
The striker missed 702 days at the Hammers, due to ailments, including the whole of the 2006/07 season with an ankle problem. Obviously, this never saw him able to play consistently at a high level and he had to retire in 2009 when he was only 26 years old after failing to recover from the injury he sustained in his only appearance for England.
Ashton now is a pundit and has worked on BBC, BT Sport, Sky Sports and also on Talksport Radio.
