West Ham: Fans react to Declan Rice’s captaincy admission

West Ham: Fans react to Declan Rice’s captaincy admission - West Ham

Many West Ham fans feel as if this might be Declan Rice’s last season at the East London club, even after his latest interview in which he says he would “love to be captain,” (@WestHam).

Rice was speaking to former Hammers player Tony Cottee, who was a great striker for West Ham when he played for the club in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s (Transfermarkt).

The 21-year-old, who came from the Hammers academy, has already made 100 appearances for the club and has been a vital player giving cover to the defensive line (Transfermarkt).

The holding midfielder has played every game in the league for the club this season and also played all but four of the games last season so it is obvious to see how important the player is to the side (Transfermarkt). And with current captain Mark Noble now 32-years-old, they may be looking for a new skipper fairly soon.

However, it seems that despite Rice suggesting he’d love the armband, several Hammers fans can’t see it happening as they believe he will leave the club soon. They could be right too, with reports suggesting that Manchester United are interested in the youngster (Manchester Evening News).

Here are what Hammers fans had to say after his latest comments:
