West Ham: Fans react to Fabian Balbuena’s AC Milan transfer link

AC Milan are interested in signing West Ham United centre-back Fabian Balbuena, that is according to a report from Calciomercato.
The report suggests that the defender’s agent, Augusto Paraja, met with the Serie A club to discuss two players. One of those was Balbuena, with the other being his fellow Paraguayan Omar Alderete who plays for Basel.
Is Fabian Balbuena indispensable to West Ham?
Yes

No

Whilst Alderete is thought to be the number one target, Milan could well come in for Balbuena too as they make signing a centre-back a priority.
The 28-year-old didn’t start the season as a regular for the Hammers. Indeed, he started one of their opening nine Premier League outings (Transfermarkt).
However, he has recently broken into the side and has played 90 minutes in seven of their last eight league games, including in the 1-0 win against Southampton last time out (Transfermarkt).
If Milan do come in with a bid, then it would leave West Ham with a decision to make. On the one hand, he has formed a partnership with Angelo Ogbonna of late and kept Issa Diop out of the team.
However, having paid just £3.5m for him in 2018 (Evening Standard), they may see this as a chance to make a profit on a player approaching his 30s.
It seems that opinion is split when it comes to what West Ham fans would do with Balbuena in January. Some feel that he is playing well and would want to keep him, whilst others would be happy to see him leave.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
Hard player to put a price on really, personally wouldn’t sell.

If we could work a swap deal for Kessie including him then yes. But otherwise I wouldn’t sell as he is great backup.

Looked better the last couple of games. I think we could find someone better if he was moved on however.

Don’t sell, Sullivan’s in charge now and you know his replacement won’t be up to scratch – he’s getting back to his best and we should keep him
