West Ham United suffered yet another disappointing night in the Premier League on Wednesday as they were beaten 2-0 at home by league leaders Liverpool.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were enough to seal three points for the Reds and the result leaves David Moyes’ side outside the relegation zone by just one goal (BBC Sport).
Barely any of the Hammers’ players were at their best in the game, but one who came in for specific criticism on social media was Argentinian midfielder Manuel Lanzini.
The 26-year-old didn’t produce a great performance against Jurgen Klopp’s side, a statement which is backed up by the statistics. Indeed he completed no successful dribbles, his only shot was off target and he managed just one key pass. Added to that he was also dribbled past on two occasions, won just two of his four ground duels and he lost possession eight times before being substituted after 69 minutes (SofaScore).
As a result of his below par display, many West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to lay criticism at his door. Indeed many were far from happy with his performance, with some suggesting that he should be dropped from the starting 11.
Here is what some had to say…
Lanzini is absolutely shocking.

He has to go Dave. I’m a fan of what he could be, but this is the wrong place for him, and he’s not working for us. Sell him into Spain and let him be something there. Need someone who’s able to play for us here.

bereft of confidence. Not sure there’s a way back for him

He needs to be dropped from the squad. Start Fornals and put a youngster on the bench

Dave, i hate slagging off our players, but the bloke is shocking. So inconsistent ..

Yep. Not enough effort. Cruises through games. Gave no assistance to Haller

He needs to be sold.

At this point he doesn’t like he could play in league one
— Steven Chinnici (@Cubbybear81) January 29, 2020
He is finished as a player. I do not know how Fornals start above him.
