West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted that they will be taking a risk by playing new signing Darren Randolph against Everton on Saturday.
The Republic of Ireland goalkeeper re-joined the Hammers from Middlesbrough this week, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with the club.
But he had been nursing an injury during his final few weeks at Boro, missing each of their last 10 Championship fixtures (Transfermarkt). Despite that, it seems that he is set to play against the Toffees this weekend as Moyes said in his pre-match press conference: “We’d ideally have liked to have waited a week longer, but Lukasz’s injury has meant we’ve brought that forward. We’re happy with him so far and we’re happy to take the risk with it,” (via whufc.com).
That would indicate that the 32-year-old isn’t yet fully fit, but with Lukasz Fabianski out for a couple of weeks (whufc.com) it seems that they are keen to play Randolph ahead of David Martin and Roberto.
Many West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter to Moyes’ comments, with plenty in disbelief that they have signed an injured goalkeeper and are set to risk throwing him in the team straight away. Here is what some had to say…
Absolutely nailed on to get injured on 12 minutes on Saturday.

Only West Ham could do this, as fit as we can get him, beyond belief.
