West Ham fans took to Twitter in a rage when seeing Balbuena benched - Premier League

When he’s played this season, Fabian Balbuena has been a class act. The Paraguayan import from Corinthians, nicknamed ‘The General’ would surely be in the running for the club’s signing of the season had he had better luck with injuries. However, those setbacks have been a niggling issue, and as he returned to fitness the fans wanted him yesterday.

Despite the Hammer’s desperation to see Balbuena back out on the pitch again after his lengthy absence, Manuel Pellegrini obviously thought it would be better to ease him in and go with Angelo Ogbonna, who for the most part has impressed in the absence of Pellegrini’s summer signing. During the first 65 minutes, this looked like it was a massive mistake, but Ogbonna proved his worth as he scored to ignite the comeback.

Whether or not Balbuena would have been able to bag from the chance that Ogbonna managed to is a different question, but all the fans know is that regardless of the Italian’s goal, they want him to drop out of the side for their next game against Everton after the international break. The Toffee’s go into the game in good form, having beaten Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park, and Balbuena is certainly one who the fans want to see relied upon to keep the likes of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson at bay.
