West Ham United are leading the race to sign Genk’s highly-rated midfielder Sander Berge, that is according to Bleacher Report.
The 21-year-old has been a regular for the Belgian club this season, starting 18 of their 19 matches in the Jupiler Pro League and scoring four goals, including two in his last two appearances (Transfermarkt).
Do you want to see Sander Berge at the London Stadium?
His performances have attracted interest from plenty of clubs, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Napoli all thought to be admirers of the Norwegian (Bleacher Report).
However, the report suggests that he would favour a move to West Ham, a club he did previously train with when he was just 17-years-old.
It is also thought that the Hammers would pay less than £20 million for the player, who has already earned 20 caps for Norway (Transfermarkt).
After seeing that they were apparently in pole position to sign Berge, many West Ham fans were delighted and suggested that it would be a brilliant signing for the club if they could pull it off.
Here is what some supporters said about potentially signing the player on Twitter, with one fan believing he would complement Declan Rice well…
Yes yes yes, sign him and move Rice to CB

Not sure how reliable we can expect Bleacher Report to be but if they could complete a deal for less than 20m I think that could be a real coup https://t.co/Em9Y29f3Kt

Sander Berge is a superb player and one that, if he came to West Ham, would partner and compliment Rice extremely well. Always seems to play well for Genk and is a good box-to-box midfielder which we have been crying out for for years. Would be a great addition to the squad.
