West Ham: Fans want Enzo Maresca to be put in charge in place of Manuel Pellegrini - West Ham

Several West Ham United supporters have called for Manuel Pellegrini’s assistant Enzo Maresca to be placed in charge at the club.

It comes after The Guardian revealed that the 39-year-old was the tactical mastermind behind the Hammers’ 1-0 win against Chelsea recently, not Pellegrini.

The report suggests that Maresca took over first-team training from the Chilean ahead of their visit to Stamford Bridge and devised the tactics which saw them beat their London rivals.

However, Pellegrini retook control and reintroduced his tactics ahead of their games against Wolves and Arsenal which they lost.

With the Hammers having now suffered defeat in seven of their last nine Premier League matches (Transfermarkt), the pressure is on Pellegrini and it has been reported that he could be sacked if they lose to Southampton (The Guardian).

It seems that if he does go, many West Ham fans would like to see Maresca given a chance to take full charge after reading of his influence over their win against Chelsea.
