According to AS, West Ham United are in talks with Viktoria Plzen to sign Patrik Hrosovsky.
Apparently, negations between the Hammers and the Czech Republic club have already begun, and could result in a deal being struck somewhere in the region of €4.5 million – which matches his Transfermarkt valuation.
The central midfielder has been in fine form this season, playing regularly for Plzen in the Fortuna Liga.
It’s unsurprising that the 26-year-old has attracted interest from bigger clubs and greater leagues than the Czech top flight this January.
However, it would be a huge ask for the 22-cap Slovakia international to take the place of Wilshere in the heart of the Irons’ midfield. At 26, Hrosovsky isn’t young enough to be classed as a promising player for the future either.
Manuel Pellegrini ought to take his search for midfield reinforcements elsewhere, rather than gambling on Hrosovsky, who may struggle to cope at Premier League level week in, week out.
There are certainly better options on the market this January who could have a bigger impact at the London Stadium.
