The West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern really are excited about their visit of Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Indeed, while many would fear facing one of the best teams in the Premier League during their own struggles, the Hammers boast a very good record against their capital counterparts when playing them at home in recent years.
Now, our east London locals are hopeful of beating Spurs at the London Stadium, as well to a potential transfer.
England international Ross Barkley has strongly been touted as a potential Tottenham target, though bookmakers Paddy Power make the Irons just 10/1 to land the midfielder during the January transfer window.
When the New Year rolls around, the 23-year-old will just have six months left on his deal with Everton and recent reports suggest Spurs may have turned their attention to Barcelona midfielder, Andre Gomes.
Barkley has previously been linked with a move to West Ham and, while things have gone fairly quiet on that front, our drinkers clad in claret and blue like those odds.
This move would make sense. Perhaps it’s not the step up he’d have been hoping for, though a change of scenery would do Ross Barkley the world of good.
Both he and West Ham could do with a lift and a move like this would surely provide each party with one, as well as help the Irons replace Dimitri Payet at last.
