Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly contemplating whether or not to go in for West Ham number 10 Manuel Lanzini in the upcoming months.
According to the Athletic (subscription needed), the Old Lady made Lanzini a summer target this year before the 25-year-old midfielder penned a new three-year deal with West Ham worth a reported £70,000-per-week (per Spotrac).
A few months down the line, though, and Juventus are seemingly thinking about whether or not to reignite their interest in the West Ham star, with the report claiming that it will take a ‘significant transfer fee’ for the east London side to let go of the Argentine international.
As stats from Transfermarkt show, Lanzini has been one of West Ham’s most creative players this season with the former Al Jazeera midfielder assisting three goals for the Irons this campaign, with Felipe Anderson the only name in the squad to create more for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Despite Lanzini’s importance to the first-team given that the attacking midfielder has started seven Premier League games for the club this season (per Transfermarkt), West Ham will find it hard to turn down a big offer for the 25-year-old should Juventus decide to go ahead with their apparent interest in one of Pellegrini’s star players.
As well as standing in line to make a big profit from one of their players, with the Guardian reporting that the Hammers paid just £9m for the playmaker, Lanzini could be swayed to join Juventus if the Old Lady were to make a move for the West Ham man, with Juventus regulars in the Champions League as well as a team that have made the final twice in the past five years.
A move for Lanzini from Juventus could be a win-win situation for both the player and West Ham, with the Argentine international given a shot to play for one of Europe’s biggest sides and Pellegrini in the money to invest into areas of the squad that are in need of development.
Lanzini has been a great servant for West Ham since arriving in the English capital over four years ago, yet if Juventus come calling with a big offer, it will be seemingly impossible for the Hammers to turn down a club of such structure for the 25-year-old midfielder.
