Former Premier League midfielder and now Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has praised West Ham winger Grady Diangana, who currently is on loan at West Bromwich Albion, and it looks like the Irons have a real player on their hands.

The pundit was emphasising how big an impact the 22-year-old was having on the Baggies' promotion charge since he made the loan move in August 2019 as he said to Sky Sports: "I’ve been very impressed right from the off. His move happened quite late in the window last summer and I think that was much to do with the fact there was so much interest and maybe whether West Ham really wanted him to go

"I’m sure he was in the plans but I think they came to the right conclusion in letting him go out and then it was about finding the best possible environment where he could flourish and play enough minutes."

It is hard to disagree with Andrews here - at the age of 22, it is important for Diangana to be playing regular football. His attacking statistics also highlight that he can offer an attacking threat for the Irons.

As well as scoring five goals and picking up six assists in 21 Championship games, he is averaging 1.3 key passes, 1.5 shots and 2.3 successful dribbles per game, which is more than Irons winger Andriy Yarmolenko (one key pass, 1.3 shots, 0.4 successful dribbles), albeit in a lower division. Meanwhile, of those three metrics, Felipe Anderson only betters him on successful dribbles per game, (1.1 key passes, one shot, 2.8 dribbles) via WhoScored.

If Diangana was in a squad that had Premier League quality like West Ham, there is every chance that his statistics would be even more impressive.

Hopefully West Ham look to utilise him next season and he can follow in the footsteps of fellow academy graduates Declan Rice and Jeremy Ngakia, who have held down starting positions in David Moyes' first XI.
