Lucas Perez may not have worked out as West Ham United had initially hoped when they signed him, however, selling him for just £2million is ludicrous!

According to a report by The Sun, the Hammers are believed to be closing in on a deal with Alaves for the 30-year-old worth that ridiculous low amount of money.

Granted, there will always be questions as to why Perez was initially signed last summer and why the club decided spending around £4m for him (The Sun) was a good decision to begin with, however, surely they should be looking to recoup that figure for him? If not, be as close to it as possible!

The Spaniard had his moments for the Hammers when given the opportunity throughout the season, having netted six times in his 19 appearances, including some really vital ones like the brace he hit against Cardiff City back in December. That record is not that bad when you consider the struggles he has had in the English game.

With the desire to reduce their wage bill and clear deadwood from the books (The Sun), Perez's departure was always going to be inevitable. Admittedly, he was never quite good enough to last at the London Stadium and his days were always numbered in the Claret and Blue.

Understandably, he is low down Manuel Pellegrini's pecking order at the moment and would have only found himself fallen further from the top as West Ham should be trying to bring a striker (or two) to the club this summer.

But you cannot help but feel that the club are being mugged off by Alaves if they are going to pay just half of what they forked out for him less than 12 months ago.

The forward has an excellent record in La Liga, having made a name for himself with Deportivo La Coruna and could be all the difference the Spanish outfit need in trying to qualify for European football. With Perez's record in Spain, a figure closer to £4m should have been a reasonable one to expect.

Indeed, it appears Alaves could benefit from West Ham's sheer desperation to wave goodbye to him.

West Ham fans, do you think you could get more than the £2m allegedly being paid for him? Let us know your thoughts below!
