Manuel Pellegrini surely knows that this summer will make or break his time and legacy at West Ham, and that means signing the players he knows are 100% right for the club.

In the modern era of the game and transfers, the Hammers have always been at the centre of odd transfer deals that the club have simply not needed and baffled both their own fans as well as supporters from rival teams, and the Chilean manager has a chance to rectify these past mistakes with a solid summer, but recent rumours aren’t doing Pellegrini any justice.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah via Inside Futbol, the Hammers are one of the teams interested in Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame, who is set to leave the club this summer when his contract expires, and fans should be worried if Pellegrini is considering a move for their former player.

Diame spent two seasons at West Ham from 2012 to 2014 and had relative success with the club, but since then the Senegalese international has dipped in quality massively with both Hull City and Newcastle, and signing him would be a major mistake from Pellegrini and the Hammers.

The France-born midfielder would not add anything new to a team who are not in need of a player who won’t see much game time at West Ham, and this season with Newcastle alone has shown us that Diame is not up to standard for playing in the Premier League.

West Ham can put themselves as one of the teams able to compete for Europe next season if they are able to make the right signings, and if Jack Wilshere is already looking like a better free signing than Diame, then Pellegrini needs to change course in his plans for the summer.

West Ham fans, should Pellegrini decline signing Diame? Let us know!
