The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly optimistic that their team will remain the Premier League this season following a much-needed resurgence in form.
The Hammers were predicted among the teams to finish in the top 10 this season but after another dismal transfer window, with more players leaving than arriving, West Ham were left with a paper-thin squad and struggled for form big time.
This summer, West Ham cannot afford to make the same mistake with fans already out for blood. The transfer window needs to be a proactive time in order for the Hammers to regain confidence that they can become the top side the owners have always talked about.
A player who could bring that belief to the London Stadium is Chelsea’s Ross Barkley, who is valued at £22.50 million on Transfermarkt. The midfield has endured a torrid time at Chelsea since arriving in January, having only made 1 Premier League appearances after being sentenced to the sideline with injury.
Whether he can overcome his injury woes and be a star at Chelsea seems increasingly unlikely now so West Ham should see this as a brilliant opportunity to reinvent Barkley’s career. Just last season, the 24-year-old scored 6 goals as well as adding 9 assists but his path is only on a downward spiral right now and a move away from Stamford Bridge seems the only hope at stopping it.
West Ham are without a doubt in need of some new talent within their ranks, particularly in midfield. Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble have been the only central-midfielders available to call upon in recent weeks due to injuries. Ross Barkley would not only be another body in midfield but a top quality one also.
