West Ham must snatch £5.4m-rated South American to improve on Adrian and Joe Hart ASAP

The Hammers are on the verge of uncertainty. Indeed, the million dollar question is, will they or won’t they stay in the Premier League? Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very concerned about their beloved team’s future in the top flight as the season nears its conclusion.

West Ham have recently been on a steep decline that’s seen the Irons just two points away from the relegation zone. With the biggest game in their recent history fast approaching, those in claret and blue must win to present fans with a reason as to why they can stay up.

If they do avoid the drop, Manchester United’s second choice goalie Sergio Romero is a ‘keeper who they should go all out for. The 31-year-old has done brilliantly when the Red Devils have been without De Gea in goal and, with West Ham, having huge problems of their own in goal, the summer is the ideal time to replace the outgoing Joe Hart and sweep aside Adrian with a top No.1.

This season again makes good reading for the Argentinian, having played in 9 games and within that time frame, conceded just four goals and has kept six clean sheets. Although he couldn’t be capable of filling the void of David De Gea permanently, Romero would make a solid signing for a club desperate for a resolute goalkeeper.

Landlords verdict:

West Ham are still facing the very real possibility of getting relegated and if that happens, this transfer immediately goes out the window. However, the London Stadium and West Ham as a whole are a club deserving of staying in the Premier League and if they get Sergio Romero, their goalkeeping options straight away look a lot stronger. Valued at just £5.4 million on Transfermarkt a fee that small would also allow West Ham not to break the bank either, something the owners are fond of!
