West Ham United should look to sign Asmir Begovic in the January transfer window, that is according to ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
The Bosnian shot-stopper is currently contracted to AFC Bournemouth, although he has spent the first half of the season on loan at Azerbaijani side Qarabag.
Should West Ham sign Asmir Begovic?
That deal is set to expire on December 31st, however, and according to The Sun,West Ham could be keen to take him in January.
Robinson believes that this would be a good move for the Hammers, as Begovic is a player who he rates very highly.
When discussing the ex-Chelsea man and a potential move to West Ham, Robinson told Football Insider: “I think he [Begovic] is a very very good goalkeeper, a top goalkeeper.
“He had a tough time at Bournemouth, got frozen out he’s playing on loan in Azerbaijan currently.
“He’s someone who’d be ideal for West Ham as he knows the Premier League, he is experienced, he has played at the top level at Chelsea, he is going to add confidence and stability to the back-four.
“And if he becomes available, it would be brilliant for West Ham, as he’d be a very astute signing.”
With Roberto set to be offloaded by the club (The Guardian), the Hammers could well be in the market for a new shot-stopper in the January transfer window.
Begovic is an extremely experienced goalkeeper who has racked up 252 Premier League appearances for Portsmouth, Stoke City, Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively (premierleague.com).
He would surely be a more reliable back-up option to Lukasz Fabianski than Roberto, who recently conceded 14 goals in just six top-flight starts for the east London club (Transfermarkt).
