Goals have been pretty hard to come by for the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern this season, despite their club’s rather public quest to land a marquee marksman over the summer.
Having missed out on a myriad of targets, the Irons propping up the bar have watched the likes of Simone Zaza and Andre Ayew struggle for form and fitness in equal measure as Slaven Bilic’s men toil in front of goal.
Still, reports emanating out of Italy have sparked excitement somewhat.
According to CalcioMercato, the Hammers are prepared to battle Paris Saint-Germain and two ludicrously wealthy Chinese Super League teams for the signature of Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic.
Since the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain in Turin, the Croatian has struggled for game time and could continue his journeyman career around the world soon, having played for the likes of Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid before.
London rivals Spurs are also said to be keen, though the 30-year-old would have to battle Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen for a starting berth at White Hart Lane.
Would Mandzukic be a good signing for West Ham? Let us know below..
