According to Sportitalia, reported via Football-Italia, Torino have rejected a €40 million (£35.2 million) offer from West Ham United for striker Andrea Belotti.
The 25-year-old No. 9 captains the Turin club and is their key player. However, since scoring 26 goals for Torino in the 2016/17 Serie A campaign, he has not been able to hit the same heights since.
A move could perhaps help Belotti to get back to his best, and the striker certainly has the capacity to have an impact in the Premier League.
That being said, the 20-cap Italy international clearly won’t come cheap.
West Ham are in the market for a striker, and could have to replace Marko Arnautovic – who has been heavily linked with a switch to the Chinese Super League (Guardian) – this month.
Belotti looks to be one of the targets Manuel Pellegrini has identified to take up this role at the London Stadium. However, the Hammers could probably do better than Belotti, especially with the funds they clearly have to spend.
As good as the Italian is, he isn’t prolific enough to take the Irons to the next level. West Ham should forget about Belotti and look elsewhere for the right man to lead the line in east London.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
