West Ham reportedly retain interest in Premier League marksman

There isn’t much to shout about in terms of a striker for the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern right now, to say the least.

Having tried oh so hard to land a marquee marksman in order to truly mark their move to the massive London Stadium, the Hammers saw Simone Zaza fail to convince in claret and blue, with the side currently relying largely on the injury prone Andy Carroll.

Which is why reports from the Daily Telegraph have gone down such a storm amongst our east London locals. They claim the club could reignite interest in Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke, who is reportedly unhappy with life in south London.

The Belgian forward was linked with a move to West Ham over the course of the summer, though eventually joined the Eagles for a club-record fee after just a year with Liverpool. Still, things haven’t gone to plan at Selhurst Park and the Hammers are said to retain an interest.

While his stock has dropped somewhat since leaving Aston Villa, many of our punters believe he could be a great signing.

Would Benteke be better suited playing at West Ham? Let us know below…
