West Ham fans had cracked open the champagne here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it had appeared one of their key deals was over the line, however their celebrations may have been premature.
According to reports from El Mundo Deportivo (via Inside Futbol), Spanish giants Barcelona are preparing to swipe Sau Paulo striker, Johnathan Calleri from under the noses of West Ham.
As per the reports the Spanish champions are sending their technical director, Robert Fernandez to meet with the striker’s agent, despite him already having a deal in place with the Hammers.
The Catalan club are in the market for an understudy to their front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, and see the 22-year-old as a viable option.
Although the Brazilian forward has a deal in place to join the Irons, the finer details are yet to be finalised, meaning a move is still possible.
West Ham fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of Barcelona’s approach? Do you think Calleri will be playing in claret and blue next season? Let us know below…
