According to mercato365.com, West Ham and Tottenham are battling to sign Lyon forward Rachid Ghezzal in the January window with our resident Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern can get one over on their London rivals.
Ghezzal came to many club’s attention last season but the French side managed to keep hold of him for this campaign. He’s yet to sign a new deal with the club, though, and with six months remaining on his contract. it could be the last chance for the Ligue 1 side to cash in on the attacker.
He’s made 13 appearances so far this season in all competitions, scoring once and laying on three more and can play on either wing or behind the main striker.
With West Ham still looking for goals with Andy Carroll injured and Simone Zaza faltering the Algerian international could come as a welcome relief for Slaven Bilic’s men, who’ve toiled all season in attacking areas.
The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League, a point above the drop zone.
