West Ham, having finally bagged a win, are hopeful of continuing that form, despite knowing how hard their fixtures threaten to be in the next few games.
Manuel Pellegrini persisted with using an attacking style of play that was criticised by many but came to fruition against Everton in their 3-1 victory. With a more tight-knit defence and variety in midfield, West Ham could really go on to do well this season.
Speaking of defensive vulnerabilities, West Ham may consider looking for back-up in January. Indeed, perhaps they should consider a move for a right-back who has the quality of Chelsea and Italian defender Davide Zappacosta.
Zappacosta, (who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt) has been on the fringes ever since joining Chelsea and for a player of his ability, a move to West Ham could allow his true talent to be showcased.
Pablo Zabaleta has been consistently tight for West Ham ever since joining at the start of last season. His problems though are age and pace particularly and those are not salvageable issues. You can’t ever fault him for commitment but with less than a year on his contract, the Hammers could look for an alternative.
As well as Zabaleta, West Ham have Ryan Fredericks in their ranks a signing that was considered a good one by many but so far he has looked like a bundle of nerves and has been in and out the side already.
Zappacosta, on the other hand, is an international defender that likes to get forward and help make attacks, as well as defending them.
Chelsea don’t call on his services often enough meaning West Ham could have a real chance of securing a right-back that would definitely improve them.
