West Ham target wants January move to aid Bilic’s cause

There hasn’t been much to shout about for the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern this season, such is the nature of life at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have endured a dreadful maiden campaign at their new home, though our east London locals have at least been happy to see their relegations fears subside somewhat of late.

While there’s still a long way to save this term, reports from the Sun have moved to lighten the spirits even further.

They claim Sunderland forward Jermain Defoe WANTS a move to the Irons, having left the club all the way back in 2003.

Having made his name at Upton Park, the former England international famously handed in a transfer request upon their relegation into Division One and ultimately joined bitter rivals Tottenham.

Now, the 34-year-old is said to be keen to move back and help heal those wounds, with the Irons understood to have seen a £6m bid snubbed by the Black Cats.

Despite his age, Defoe remains one of the most lethal marksmen in the Premier League and our resident Hammers would simply love to see him back in claret and blue.

How much will Defoe cost? Let us know below…
