It certainly seems as if the problems just keep on mounting upon Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United.

After one issue is solved, another one soon arises to plague their progress. This has been a constant bug their season, undermining them in their attempt towards being among the most inconsistent team in the Premier League.

Even after spending big money in the summer, nothing has changed. The Hammers are still inferior to many oppositions and stuck in a mid-table battle, largely through their own doing. To make things worse, their latest problem sees them unable to rely on a proper goal-scorer.

Indeed, Marko Arnautovic seems uninterested right now, but it was Lucas Perez’s disappointing showing against Everton which concerned many.

The Hammers had signed Perez to save him from his nightmare across the English capital at Arsenal. Instead, it seems he's pulled them into it. Perez was lethargic against Everton, getting dispossessed twice, losing 8 duels including 4 aerial duels (stats via Fotmob). Frankly, he wasn’t linking up with Arnautovic, couldn’t drive the ball forward, being stopped in his tracks by Everton’s stern defending every time.

After a horrible showing, he was deservedly substituted after half-time. If his performance proved anything, this should also be the last time he starts for the Hammers. Pellegrini will certainly need quite the overhaul in attack next season and Perez might be facing the wrong end of the axe soon.

He hasn't really helped himself with a woeful record of only scoring 2 goals in 12 matches for the Hammers. Perez isn’t mobile or clinical enough to lead their line and is a man well past his best, who can’t take West Ham further forward.
