It seems like West Ham will be involved in a transfer battle for Timothy Castagne this summer, following recent reports suggesting that the Irons and their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the Atalanta player.
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Castagne could leave the Serie A club over the next few months and his dream move would be the Premier League. Leicester City are also reportedly interested but Castagne has been no stranger to being linked to the Premier League as, last summer, fellow London side Crystal Palace were supposedly interested in the Belgian, per the Evening Standard.
The Belgium international has played 82 times for Atalanta, scoring eight goals whilst assisting nine, via Transfermarkt. Some of those contributions have been made in the Europa League and Champions League, highlighting that he has some serious pedigree.
One of Castagne’s great qualities is his versatility, as he can play on either side of the midfield or as a right wing-back, and he could be a very useful player to have in the Hammers squad. His age of 24 also suits David Moyes’ plans to build a younger side and he has performed well in Serie A, with a goal and two assists in the league this season.
The fact that numerous Premier League sides are interested in him emphasises the quality that he possesses and, if the Hammers can beat other teams to a deal, they could have a very good player on their hands for 2020/21.
