Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern think a win against Sunderland this weekend should see them safe and finally put those relegation fears to bed.
It’s been a far from comfortable season for the Hammers this time out with plenty going wrong and a constant thought in the back of their minds that they could be seriously caught up in the battle for survival.
However, if they can follow their win over Swansea with another victory against the Black Cats they should be fine to then focus on building in the summer.
The coming months, though, look set to be tough too with The Mirror claiming that a host of West Ham players are set to ask for a pay-rise – meaning the summer could be expensive.
Indeed, the report is claiming that many players are not happy with the deals new signings Robert Snodgrass and Jose Fonte got when they arrived and so the club’s wage bill could be on the verge of swelling.
And, you get the feeling if the club doesn’t respond to the players’ demands – things could get even less harmonious.
