West Ham United edge closer to £24m striker signing

After watching their side crash out of the Europa League last night, the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows.

While it remains early days at the London Stadium, the opening two competitive games at their new home have barely been vintage performances.

So for the Hammers in the Tavern, they need some cheering up to say the very least.

Some good news has finally come for the Irons, following reports from the Guardian.

They claim that Juventus forward Simone Zaza is due in England to undergo a medical ahead of a £24m move from the Italian champions.

It has been a long and drawn out process for the club as they look to land a new striker over the course of the summer, having missed out on the likes of Carlos Bacca (thanks to the Daily Mail, who quote Sky Sport Italia.)

With Andy Carroll proving as injury prone as ever, Slaven Bilic is believed to have stumped up a club record fee for the Italian international.

Should the deal go ahead as expected, it will be the second time the East London outfit have smashed their record, following the arrival of Andre Ayew earlier this summer.

Zaza is understood to have agreed personal terms with the club and comes to the Premier League off the back of a frustrating spell with the Old Lady.

Despite emerging as a top talent with Sassulo, the vast array of illustrious attacking options in Turin have seen playing time hard to come by.

Still, the Irons in this evening have been dancing on the pool tables after seeing a hugely exciting talent edge ever close to moving to their beloved West Ham.

Clearly a talented individual, perhaps the Azzurri international will sadly be only remembered for this infamous video below in the eyes of many.

Is Zaza the right man for West Ham? Let us know below…
