West Ham United: Fans discuss Joao Mario

Some West Ham United fans were left discussing Joao Mario on Saturday when COYIrons posted a photo of him on Twitter stating that they had wished he had remained at the club.

Indeed, the Portuguese midfielder was with the Hammers for the second half of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign when he joined from Inter Milan on loan (as per the club’s official website).
The 27-year-old would go on to play a regular role in David Moyes’ first-team during the manager’s first spell in charge of the London Stadium outfit, having made 14 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and provide one assist (per TransferMarkt).
Fans who saw the Twitter post were split in their opinions about the current Lokomotiv Moscow loanee, with some agreeing with the original post whilst others feeling the £16.2m-rated midfielder did not really offer them too much more than what they already have available to them.
One fan even decided to compare him to current star Manuel Lanzini, although that might be based on recent performances were supporters have been critical of the Argentine attacker, although another appeared to have his back as he felt the former Portugal international linked up well with Marko Arnautovic well during his time in east London.
Here are just some of the West Ham faithful’s views on whether Mario is missed or not…
