West Ham United: Fans fuming about new date for postponed Manchester City fixture

West Ham United’s game away at Manchester City has been rearranged for Wednesday 19th February (via @WestHam).
The fixture was supposed to take place at the Etihad on Sunday, but it was postponed in the interest of supporter and staff safety following extreme weather conditions caused by Storm Ciara (mancity.com). This means that the two clubs may now have to revise their plans for the winter break, which they were supposed to be enjoying this week prior to their next Premier League fixtures on the weekend of 22nd-24th February.
Kick-off will be at 19:30 and tickets bought by Hammers fans for the original fixture will still be valid. Added to that, the east London club are also offering free return coach travel for fans planning making the journey to the north west.
It is a big game for West Ham who are desperate for results at the moment having slipped into the bottom three of the Premier League table with 13 games to go (BBC Sport).
It seems that many Irons fans aren’t happy at all with the date selected to play the fixture, however. Indeed, many are fuming that it interrupts their winter break, whilst another points to the fact that they now have Manchester City and Liverpool away in the same week and that it may be bad for morale if they lose both games as they will be expected to.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
So much for the Winter break then!
