West Ham United: Fans not keen on signing Jack Butland in January transfer window

West Ham United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Jack Butland, with Stoke City reportedly asking for £20 million for the goalkeeper (via Daily Mail).
Is Jack Butland worth £20m?
Yes

No

The Hammers are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper in January having had problems between the sticks this season.
Whilst Lukasz Fabianski is a dependable number one, his injury meant that Roberto Jimenez had to play for a while and he didn’t do well, shipping 14 goals in just six starts (Transfermarkt).
Third choice David Martin has come in for Roberto recently and done better, keeping two clean sheets in four (Transfermarkt).
However, it is thought that the club will look for another goalkeeper in the transfer window and the Daily Mail suggests that they had been considering trying to get Butland in on loan.
But it seems that Stoke are unlikely to sanction such a deal, instead demanding £20 million for the 26-year-old.
The England international hasn’t been in great form this season, indeed he has kept just three clean sheets in 15 starts and has made three errors which have led to goals (SofaScore).
Plenty of West Ham fans have urged the club not to spend big money on Butland, suggesting that he is not worth it.
Here is what some have said on Twitter…
I don’t think I’d pay 2m….

20mill? No chance the way he’s played the last year or so. Closer to 2mill. https://t.co/4e7tBvRBL4

Wouldnt go near him at that price. Ok hes been playing behind a dismal defence but so was Fabianski & he saved us so many times. Hes been error prone for a few years. In the summer window we need to look at a younger keeper to replace Fabisnski in time & keep him on his toes.

You could buy the whole city of Stoke for £20m.
Ridiculous valuation of a very average keeper.
