A lot of West Ham fans have been raging at the latest transfer news which has linked the club with a summer move for Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier, according to the Daily Star, via West Ham News.
The defensive midfielder could be a useful signing for the club. At the age of 26, per Transfermarkt, he could be a good replacement for 32 year-old captain Mark Noble who is entering the twilight years of his career, per Transfermarkt.
His defensive statistics are better than the Irons captain this season as he has on average per game managed more blocks, interceptions and clearances than Noble in the Premier League, per WhoScored.
However fans aren’t pleased with the English international being linked with the club and feel like it is a step back rather than forward. You can sort of see their point given the player has been in and out of the team at Tottenham for the past couple of years, both under Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino (Transfermarkt).
He also received bad press recently as he ran into the crowd to confront a Spurs fan after the side were knocked out at home to Norwich City in the FA Cup, via The Guardian.
Here is how fans reacted to the transfer link:
