West Ham United: Fans react as David Moyes will reportedly be allowed to spend £40 million in the summer

West Ham fans are not happy as it has been reported that they will have around £40 million to spend in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol
Answering a question by a fan during a Q&A on where the club needs to strengthen, Kaveh said, “The plan was for Moyes to be given about £40m to spend in the summer but that was before the season stopped. He wants to sign a striker to support Sebastian Haller and strengthen in the full-back positions. He wants to make sure he brings the right characters to the club. Players who can adapt to English football quickly.”
For a club who are currently in a relegation battle as they sit in 16th and only two points away from Aston Villa in 19th, the fans below feel like the team needed a lot of change to not be in the same situation next season and that this budget might not be enough to rebuild the side. When you look at their spending over this season, they spent around £99.18 million, per Transfermarkt. This included £36 million striker Sebastien Haller who has only managed seven goals in the league this season, via WhoScored.
Indeed, past signing Felipe Anderson cost the Hammers £34.20 million, via Transfermarkt, in July 2018 and has only managed one goal this season.
It looks like the board have noted that these high profile signings have not worked as effectively as planned and are looking to go down a different route in the next transfer window.

That’s a pathetic total…the owners don’t care if we’re competitive in any way, I wonder if they’ll be including the Bowen & Soucek totals in that!
Even accounting for Release clauses, that doesn’t get you much in the market anymore unless we sell, Salisu £10.5m is a must IMO— Steven McCarthy (@StevenMcCarthy9) April 2, 2020
What people are forgetting is that Soucek’s 14m fee is included in that 40m, meaning that our budget will be 25m, just like it was this season. They’ve said 40m to make it sound better than what it is

Needs a minimum of 50-100 million to fix our team

So we can buy 1 half decent player who could be a flop in the premier league
