David Moyes wants to sign younger, more dynamic players for West Ham United going forward, that is according to a report from the Mirror.
It suggests that the former Everton and Manchester United boss is keen to target players who fit that profile, rather than older cast-offs from rival clubs in the Premier League.
Speaking ahead of the Hammers’ clash with Everton this weekend about what he is looking for in the transfer market, Moyes said: “my long-term picture would be sign young players for the future, for the longevity here, for resale as well, that’s part of the business in football,” (via Mirror).
His comments though have been pulled up by many West Ham supporters who aren’t hopeful that his wish of signing hot prospects rather than players who are perhaps past it will come true. Indeed, some point to the fact that his sole signing this month is 32-year-old Darren Randolph from Championship outfit Middlesbrough, a player that they have of course had and sold before.
That signing goes completely against what Moyes has said he is targeting and therefore fans are sceptical that a change in approach when it comes to signing players will happen. Here is what some said about it on Twitter…
Says a man who has signed a 32 year old, knackered keeper to follow having signed a 36 year old defender in his last stint…
