Since leaving West Ham for Crystal Palace in 2016, James Tomkins has established himself as a regular for the Eagles.
He has been key in helping Palace remain defensively strong of late, indeed he has just helped them seal back-to-back clean sheets in the league against Burnley and Bournemouth respectively (Transfermarkt).
Meanwhile his former club West Ham have been leaking goals this season, shipping 16 goals in their last eight league outings (Transfermarkt).
As a result, Hammers fans have been looking on enviously at Palace as their ex-defender helps the south London club remain solid at the back whilst their own team struggles to keep the ball out of the back of the net.
A fan account on Twitter, @WestHam_Central, recently asked supporters what they thought about Tomkins’ performances for the Eagles and many said the same thing.
They were still confused as to why the club ever let him go in the first place and believe that it was a mistake to do so…
Kouyate’s passing was atrocious. His touch not much better.
Tomkins on the other hand… Well that looked a poor decision to sell at the time and my mind hasn’t changed.

Tomkins is a transfer I still can’t get my head over

Not fussed on Kouyate. Always felt Tomkins was a mistake and still do. Was versatile at the back, knew he would always put in maximum effort. Could have been very useful since he left
