West Ham United: Many fans take pessimistic view following Newport County draw

West Ham have been drawn against Newport County in the Carabao Cup, as confirmed by the club’s official website.

The Hammers will play against the League Two outfit at Rodney Parade during the week commencing 26th August.

This would seem like a fairly kind draw, considering Newport play in League Two, but many West Ham fans are still not confident their side will progress.

The two clubs have met three times in their history, with each taking one win and the other game ending in a draw, with the last meeting coming in 1979.

Having lost against AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup last season, many fans are not taking this game for granted – especially after Newport beat Leicester City and Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last season before succumbing to Manchester City, as per Transfermarkt.
