WhoScored have named Sebastien Haller as their Premier League Player of the Week, as they confirmed on Twitter.
The Frenchman was making his second appearance for the Hammers, having missed the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion through injury the previous weekend.
Haller received an overall rating of 9.04 for his performance at Vicarage Road, while Chelsea’s Emerson came second with 8.69 and Manchester City midfielder David Silva was in third with 8.65 – while Felipe Anderson also got into the Team of the Week with a rating of 8.4.
The Frenchman was the top scorer in the league for the week with the two goals which opened up his account for the Hammers.
He also won seven aerial duels, a number which was only surpassed by one player in the entire league, while there were two who were fouled more often than he was.
In addition, he took four shots and completed one dribble as he played the full 90 minutes, while completing 73% of the passes he attempted.
This is thoroughly deserved and shows just how impressive Haller was as he helped West Ham beat the Hornets for their first victory of the 2019/20 season.
It is performances like this which highlight why the Hammers were willing to pay a record fee for the 25-year-old and indicate he can certainly be worth the money.
